My feed is full of AI wins. Workflows that run themselves, tools that save hours, automations that just work. Rarely a post about what happens when they don't. So here's one that is happening to me right now… 😭
Claude Desktop on Windows has been showing a black screen since I came back from a trip, app opens, process runs, UI stays completely blank. I went through the full list: reinstalls, cache clearing, HDR off, firewall, GPU drivers. NOTHING...
Then I found the GitHub threads. Multiple issues documenting this exact bug, going back to January 2026, marked as duplicates, still open today. Anthropic has known about this for five months with no public fix timeline.
For a Pro subscriber the problem is real:
→ No Cowork, no local file access
→ No Claude Code with local context
→ Locked out of the desktop client entirely
I recommend these tools to clients, I evaluate them before companies invest. A bug sitting unresolved this long creates a trust gap, not because software doesn't break, but because silence about it does.
For now I'm managing: browser works, my Python scripts run independently. Not stopped, just working around a paid product that doesn't function.
⚠️ My dear network here, If you're technical and hit this did you find something that actually worked? Please share it with me!
PS: If anyone from Anthropic is reading this... genuinely curious what the timeline looks like.
